Nutritional Weight &
Wellness has helped countless clients improve or recover from eating disorders. Our
approach differs from standard treatments because it incorporates a structured plan of ongoing nutritional support to correct
the underlying biochemical imbalance. There are many variables to consider when dealing with eating disorders. Each person
is unique, so the root of the problem may vary even though the end behavior is the same. Among the possible causes are biochemical
imbalances, neurotransmitter irregularities, mineral imbalances, or nutritional deficiencies. The issue is more complicated
than a psychological or social problem and must be addressed at a biochemical level.
We recognize the value and need for psychological help and antidepressants
in treating eating disorders, but believe that these treatments often fall short because they do not correct the underlying
biochemical imbalance. This imbalance makes people feel helpless when time after time depression or anxiety leads them back
to out-of-control eating. Calorie counting alone is not sufficient for healing; nutrient deficiencies must be addressed to
rebalance biochemistry for recovery.
By the time clients reach
us, they are often feeling confused, helpless, guilty and frightened. We begin
by using a psycho-nutritional inventory to sort through symptoms and get to the heart of the problem. Often, what a client
sees as a desperate, never-ending problem can be quickly identified, and then corrected.
Nutritional Weight & Wellness helps clients understand the impact of genetic factors, explains how to use food and nutrients to heal the cells and teaches stress-reduction techniques.
Focused, ongoing nutritional support along with personalized eating plans assist clients in making the small changes they
need to correct their biochemistry. Nutrition therapy can only be effective when delivered in a caring manner that supports
clients in making the changes essential to their recovery.
