Poached Fruit Recipe

Makes 4 servings | Gluten free 

Step 1

4 c. water
½ c. honey
4 inch piece of ginger cut into chunks
1 cinnamon stick
4-6 pears or apples
Whipped cream or crème fraiche


  1. Bring the water/wine, honey, ginger, and cinnamon stick to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Peel the pears or apples and cut them in half and remove the seeds.
  3. Reduce the heat of the liquid to a simmer and submerge the fruit. You may need to set a plate on top of them to keep them under. Simmer for 10+ minutes depending on the ripeness of your fruit and how well you like them cooked. Use a paring knife or fork to poke them and determine their doneness.
  4. Remove the fruit from the liquid with a slotted spoon and serve warm with a dollop of fresh whipped cream.
